Having served in the Army, I'll give you my opinion of this policy and homosexuals in the military..
First of all, from a moral standpoint, I think homosexuality is wrong because it's not natural. I don't believe for one second that it's not a choice.. I think people choose their sexual preference based on their upbringing, and I have seen several pretty obvious examples first-hand..
Having said that, I also feel that people should be able to live their lives in whatever perverted way they wish, as long as they aren't hurting other people. So that brings us to adoption-I don't feel that homosexual couples should be allowed to adopt or do in-vitro, because a household without the balance of perspectives of male and female (a natural mother and father) is not a healthy environment for kids.. I know it doesn't make them grow up to be misfits or retarded, but it is obviously no ideal, and there are plenty of straight couples out there who want kids but can't have them where an adopted child would do much better.
So my stand-don't agree with it, but they should be left alone to do whatever they wish in the bedroom out of the view and knowledge of society. Does this rule out gay-pride parades? In my opinion, yes.. There is absolutely no valid reason the world needs to know that you're gay and proud of it. It serves no purpose other than to annoy straight people, tear at the moral fabric of our Christian nation, and it's childish to feel the need to flaunt your perversion..
So when it comes to gays in the military, I want only the most moral, clear-headed people defending and representing our country around the world.. I don't agree with having someone whose thinking is so deluded that they think homosexuality is normal making life or death decisions in a time of war..
We also know that if we took away the stigma of being gay in the military, homosexuals would be filing stupid complaint after stupid complaint about the testosterone-filled soldiers berating them.. We don't need our soldiers bombarded with sensitivity training and told to tolerate homosexuals.. I don't think the Army needs this extra stress and red tape and law suits and all that extra crap that would obviously arise if the DADT policy were lifted..
