I came across this house that had been abandoned since, apparently, 2004.. It was a mess. Vandals had ransacked the place. It was a sad sight, both inside and out, and I'd love to know the story behind it. The house has no utilities on any longer, and it's a real sad situation because it's got vinyl replacement windows, but the house is crumbling around them... The floors are spongy, and every wall has peeling paint.. There are children's items in a children's room, there are family portraits hanging on the wall, there are clothes hanging in a wardrobe, there is a child's costume hanging in a closet.. It's one of the saddest sights I've come across. I wonder where these people are now and why their family or somebody hasn't claimed their belongings in 5 years.. I'm not going to post any exterior pictures to deter any further vandalization. Everything here is just as I found it-I didn't as much as open a drawer.. I photographed it and left, and as is my policy whenever I photograph an abandonment, I didn't take a thing.. There are many things in this house that are perfectly viable and usable, but they aren't mine, and I strictly abide by that policy and give that respect. Enjoy... A child's toy Big Bird... A stereo, complete with speakers: They just walked away.... I've never seen anything like it.
