What do you think about the horse cutouts that people have been buying and putting in their yard, on their businesses and such?
My problem with this idea is that nothing worthwhile is easy, and these cheap things were way too easy. They're made of the cheapest plywood, they are painted, for the most part, by amateurs, not weatherproofed correctly, not protected from the elements, and they just look cheap. The town isn't some stellar town, and this effort at instilling pride in the the town makes much less sense to me than actually doing things that make the town a place we can be proud of. Putting cheap, amateurish looking wooden replicas of Clyde around just seems to me a desperate move by people who know the town is a crappy town and just can't bring themselves to be honest about it. It's as if they're just trying to make themselves feel better.
Just who are these horses supposed to impress? Other townsfolk? Tourists? If for the other townsfolk, just what are you trying to tell them? They already know about the issues in the town and how bad it is. Is the horse supposed to make them feel better about this?
If for tourists or people passing through, the dilapidated structures and "Rooms for Rent" boarding house that welcomes people to town will certainly impress themselves upon tourists entering town moreso than a cheap looking horse on your lawn or your business. They'll probably think it's some kind of game the town is playing.
Anyway, give it a year or two and we'll see if they're kept up. Hopefully they will be.

I don't have a problem with it any more than I do a mascot at a football game, even if you're the loosing team.
I've lived in this town for 23yrs and never really been involved in the town. I wonder how many others are like me? Anyway, as a kid and early adult I was constantly moving so I guess I developed a detachment of sorts and didn't invest into what was going on, just took care of my own business.
You're different, where ever you go you are going to be checking out who's who and what's what.
I don't think "Clyde Pride" is a vehicle to impress tourists or other towns people, it is simply a moral booster for some that choose to display it and make it their way.
BTW, Valero's has a Clyde on the fence and their closed. The owner of the "Rooms for Rent" boarding house died last week.

He was sitting in the parking lot in a Lincoln Navigator with gull-wing doors and told me that he was a promoter of concerts and such.. He was only about 38ish.. Is that the guy?

I didn't know him brass. A friend of mine went to the wake and I was informed it was him. I'll check it out further and will correct it if I'm wrong.
