I upgraded my laptop to Windows 7 Ultimate last night, and so far it's pretty smooth.. I wouldn't have done it if it was my only computer, but since I have three computers I decided to use my laptop as the guinea pig..
Windows 7 has very smooth graphics and does a few things differently than I'm used to with XP. First, when I press the power button on my laptop to turn it off, Windows 7 just suspends it, or puts it to sleep.. With XP when I pressed the power button, it initiated the boot-down process and turned it off..
Also, the networking is a little harder to figure out because it's not familiar.. Windows 7 now uses Home Groups or Work Groups for networks, not Workgroups, as XP and previous versions of Windows did.. For this reason I'm having trouble finding my desktop computer for file sharing purposes..
It did find all of my hardware once I did the Windows update, which was pretty quick, as Windows 7 just came out in January.. They haven't found many bugs to fix just yet.
