This is the first (and only) Urban Exploration (UE) I've ever done. When I did it, I didn't know there was a name for it. I just love seeing the history of old buildings and houses, and in this case I had the owner's permission to be in the building, as it was slated for demolition because of its delipidated state. This building was very old, and it was used for several things through the years, the last being a wood working shop. You can see the last remaining machine inside in one of the pictures-it's a planer. When I see an abandoned building or house, I always wonder about how they went about telling their employees, who depended on them for income, not to show up the next day because the doors will be locked up.. Very sad and deep. The top floor was actually missing its roof, and I was up there taking pictures. I'm not usually that much of a daredevil, but it felt sturdy. It probably wasn't sturdy, judging by the way the center of the building had half-collapsed. There has also evidently been a fire in the past, but the timbers weren't replaced. You can see new slats in one picture with a light hanging from them. Working conditions in this place must have been horrendous. There is a mattress and a subway wrapper, as well as a mouthwash bottle and other things that indicated that squatters or kids were staying there at one point. Anyway, enjoy the pics: Sawdust collection bin:
