Whoever the hell jjss is on the new BYF, he is one of the stupidest people I've ever read. He had this to say about us newcomers having any say in town affairs:
"For those that like to criticize. It is apparent to me that you feel you're entitled the right of everything even though you have never earned it. Throughout your life and especially in the military privileges come with years of service those of you that have been here 3 to 5 years have not earned the right to criticize others that been here 75 or more years. Majority of the old people that have made this town what it is. That you criticize. A lot of them do not have an education. But have never been on welfare or taken advantage of other people's.
The majority of Oz have worked hard for what we have. And do not like outsiders to come and tell us what we must do or not do I do not understand the way some of you feel why you stay in Winchendon go back where you came from. And leave the people in this town alone.. The majority of Oz are happy with our town and the people that ran it. As far as the fences go anywhere in this town it should be left to the homeowner if he wishes to repair it. Without being forced to doing it.."
Look, you stupid bastard, I own a home here, and I pay my taxes. As I see it, that give me just as much say as the builders of the town had, let alone you or others who have lived here your whole lives. In this country, you don't earn rights as you go. An 18 year old can cancel out the vote of a 90 year old lifelong resident-that means we're all equal with regard to rights, you dope.
I served 8 years in the Army, so I know how that goes.. I voluntarily signed on the dotted line and chose to give up the rights you give up when you join the military, but these townsfolk you're insulting haven't waived any of the freedoms or rights to have a say in the town in which they live by joining the military. You are one warped individual. You said this same sentiment not once, but twice, so it's clearly not a misspeak or something you're willing to reconsider.. All I can say is that I'm glad you're of advanced age so you won't be around to see the changes us newcomers are going to effect.
