I remember when I was a kid in the 50's my parents used to snatch the newspaper from me because I would go to the comic section and read the sagas of Dick Tracy and Brenda Starr. Then soaps came into the picture and I would watch the edge of night till my mom came in the room and shut it off and I then went outside to play. Good for her! But she was a stay at home mom and payed close attention.
Then I became a mom and ended up dictating what my kids watched on TV. They were not allowed to watch 3's company and then when MTV came on the scene, I got ride of the TV for a long time. I tried to fight the suggestions and the moral implications that would impress my young girls and lead them into a world where seduction and the playground is where acceptance, success as well as acceptance rules.
They talk and laugh about it today. But it was not nearly as bad as it is today for the young!
This is coming out of Disney.
