My head just about exploded reading about some idiotic drivers (ex. stopping in the travel lane because someone turns into the breakdown lane) and their asinine arguments against using the breakdown lane in a legal and safe manner. Mass law ( Chapter 89 Section 4B) is quite clear that breakdown lanes can be used as deceleration lanes for turns. The law is not quite so clear for acceleration lane use, but logic would dictate that such is also allowed as long as one yields to oncoming traffic in the travel lane(s). Use of the breakdown lane in this way is not using it as a passing or travel lane, but using it so as to safely merge with other traffic.

I cannot stand when people stay in the travel lane with their turn signal on heading South before turning in at about 10 MPH.. That, to me, just means that they simply cannot think for themselves.. What an unfriendly place with only one point of view welcome.
