Kevin,
I may have made a generalization or assumption, but I thought you'd welcome this news..
I grew up with my drunk mother every now and then going on cleaning benders and cleaning up our disgusting house to music on 8-track tapes.. The music would play over and over through the night and all day as she finally got disgusted enough with her lack of housekeeping and totally cleaned the entire place of the pizza boxes, fast-food wrappers, empty pudding cups that my brother and I had for dinner several nights a week and the roaches with it..
Utilizing this highly unorthodox technique, I became intimately familiar with artists such as Helen Reddy, John Denver and, of course, Cat Stevens...
Once I grew up, I bought all of Cat Stevens' albums before he went crazy and became a Muslim, renaming himself Yusuf Islam and discontinuing his music career, much to the dismay of his millions of loyal fans.. I think the man is brilliant, and I was so disappointed that he went crazy.. I have survived on the original recordings and the best of's, but this year he released a new album titled, "Roadsinger (To Warm You Through The Night)"
Quite shockingly, it's very classically Cat Stevens with great acoustic guitar and wonderful backup vocals.. And the spirituality mentions one God, not of any denomination, so it's not preachy about Islam, and I really welcome the new and fresh, yet familiar material!! I love it! Out just this year!
