The State is more worried about your children than you are. The Massachusetts Pubic Healthist Council "overwhelmingly" passes a law that requires public schools to measure your young'ns BMI (Body Mass Index). Then send the information home to tell you if your child is fat and offer nutritional guidance. Parents can opt out. (for now IMO) This may seem to some a harmless policy and one that might do some good. I see it as further encroachment of the State on privacy and personal property and none of their dam business. This policy also reeks of social engineering. Say NO to BMI! "Healthists" have no business making laws! Article

My son's sixth grade teacher says she doesn't send home Science and Social Studies homework very often because the important subjects are English and Math (they have to teach to the test)... So now we're going to charge someone with being in our business, which I think is a violation of our kids' rights, and tell parents how fat their kids are because surely they have no idea.... I think this is illegal.. You can bet that the next thing we'll see is increases in insurance rates for those kids deemed overweight.. Absolutely astonishing how the government today thinks they can just do whatever the hell they want.. I think we'll find out what day they're going to do the weighing and measuring on and just keep our son home that day.. They have no business putting their hands on him.

You know, it just dawned on me that we take our kids for physicals twice a year, and the requisite age-marker checkups, and each time the nurses aid weighs and measures them and charts their current situation on a chart and tells us where they stand percentile-wise... So, unless you're one of those asshats with some weird religion that excuses you from getting vaccinations to attend school, you have to have this done in order to attend school, anyway.. So you know how fat your kids are, and if you're too stupid to notice your kid blimping out, no note sent home from the school is going to change your feeding habits in your family.. Parents know their kids are fat when they're fat, and we don't need the school to tell us so... The school just needs to mind their own business.. I know this crap is being pushed by Devolve Patrick's Liberal administration, but the schools should tell him that they've got enough on their plate just trying to educate our kids to acceptable standards without also worrying about the kids' health, which is solely the responsibility of the parents..
the bureaucracy needs to be reigned in.. It's too much, now, and this doesn't feel like a free country at all any more..
