A little glimmer of good news..
There are plans to build a wood pellet manufacturing facility on Franklin Street on the site of the old Converse toy factory.. He has one machine now and hopes to expand.. That will bring a few jobs to the area and hopefully some good deals on wood pellets for residents.
We reviewed his plans Thursday night, and they look good.. As long as he makes it through all the other boards, he should have no problems.

Although Mr. Mughmaw still has some legwork to do concerning visits to boards and commissions for site plan reviews and permits, his business plans for the property could start to come to fruition by spring.
WINCHENDON— With property sales flagging in recent months, the Winchendon Redevelopment Authority delivered a bit of good news, announcing it has accepted a $20,000 bid on property at 60 Franklin St. from a man specializing in the wood stove industry.
Now that Westminster resident Jason Mughmaw’s bid has been accepted, he can start the buying process.
Gerald White in the planning office said if all goes well, the 1-1/4-acre property will soon offer the town both tax revenue and new jobs.
“Those are the two things we are after when we put property out to bid,” he said.
Although Mr. Mughmaw still has some legwork to do concerning visits to boards and commissions for site plan reviews and permits, his business plans for the property could start to come to fruition by spring.
“It could take two to four months to see anything happen there,” Mr. White said.
Plans call for the site to be used in the manufacturing of wood pellets. Eventually, Mr. Mughmaw hopes to be able to sell wood stoves at the site as well.
“That’s down the road still, but he is licensed to sell stoves,” Mr. White said.
The Redevelopment Authority is also reviewing a separate offer on the adjacent property, at 50 Franklin St.
A $20,000 bid was also placed on that property, but no decision has been made yet to either accept or reject it.
“They’re still studying the proposal,” Mr. White said.
He also said that he hopes more information concerning both property sales will be available at the group’s meeting next month.
